Welcome to Luther King Class
Our class takes its name from a hero for all: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., someone who never backed down in his fight for civil rights. This courageous leader inspired millions of people to rise together in order to change history for the better.
He challenged racism and overcame hardships to follow his passion and do the right thing. In Luther King class, we take inspiration from the child with a dream who went on to become an outstanding leader who strived to succeed despite overwhelming obstacles.
Through his story, we are reminded that, although we can face challenges that may seem insurmountable, through grit and hard work, we can all achieve great things!
Reading
We encourage the children to develop a love for reading, though daily reading lessons, adult reading volunteers, opportunities for children to 'recommend a read' to each other as well as staff sharing books which they are enjoying.
Looking for a book to read? Check out these reading suggestions for each year group. Why not challenge yourself to see how many you can read this year?

Home learning and useful links
At Culworth, we believe it is useful for all children to read for 10 minutes per day, to engage with TTRockstars and to practise their spellings.
As a result, we provide links to additional learning for those parents who feel their children would benefit from this.
