Newsletter 10 3rd February 2012 Dear Parents, Chenderit Sports Congratulations to the Year 3 and 4 children who came second in the athletics competition and to the Year 5 and 6 children who came sixth. Well done to all. We had 10 girls attending the netball training (boys are also welcome to join in) this week – well done for braving the cold – and we have a team for the 5-a-side netball competition on Thursday, 8th March at Chenderit. We also had 4 children braving the cold weather to attend the tag rugby training. However, in order to be able to enter the rugby competition on 15th March at the Banbury Rugby Club, we do need a team of 10, including at least 3 girls. If your child is interested in taking part, please let Mrs Watson know. Thank you. The Cross Country event for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 is on 23rd February at Chenderit. The children need to be there at 3.45pm for a warm up, ready to start promptly at 4pm and finishing at 5pm. The course is approximately one mile round the school field. If your child would like to take part would you please complete the attached slip? Thank you. We are unable to let you know the date or venue for the swimming gala at the moment. When we have details we will pass them on to you. Hotshots Basketball Well done to the children who took part in the Hotshots Basketball tournament. They played very well and came second. Woodford Halse Cross Country Event This will take place on Wednesday, 25th April from 3.45pm to approximately 5.45pm at Woodford Halse Primary School. This is for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. We will send out further details nearer the time. Parents’ Evenings These will be held on Tuesday, 27th March from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and on Thursday, 29th March from 4pm to 6pm. Appointment lists will go up nearer the time and if you are unable to come on these evenings you are invited to make another appointment at a mutually convenient time. Following the positive feedback, these will be held in the hall and you will be able to go into your child’s class to see all the work they have been doing. Your child’s books will be in his/her tray and will be available for his/her parents to look at. Beginning of the School Day You are very welcome to come into your child’s class between 8.45am and 9am to read with them, help them practice their handwriting, etc. However, we would ask that you say goodbye to your child by 9am so that the register can be taken and that you do not return to the class as this is disruptive. Thank you for your support with this. Helping in School If you are interested in helping in school, or if you have a skill that you feel we could use, we would love to hear from you. You will need to be CRB checked (please ask at the office) if you do not hold a current Northamptonshire County Council enhanced CRB. Cold Weather As the weather is so cold, the children are very welcome to wear a jumper under their school sweatshirt or cardigan. However, if they need to remove a layer they must remove their “home” jumper and keep their school sweatshirt on. Could you also remember to send them into school with coats, hats and gloves for when they are outside? Thank you. School Meals Order Forms We have been asked to remind you that your order form needs to be in school by 9am each Monday. The forms are collected by Nourish first thing on Monday mornings and any orders received after that will not be processed. Name Tags If you need to order any name tags you can go to www.easy2name.com and quote Culworth C of E Primary OX17 2BB. The school then receives 20% cash back. We have been asked to let you know that Culworth Village Hall Film Night is on Saturday, 4th February at 7pm. The film is Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (2011) and the tickets are £8 including a light supper (bring your own drinks and glasses) and are available from Julie Tinn (01295 760855).
