New School

The Governors of our school have been asked by the Diocese to draw up proposals for a new school building as our current buildings and site will not be suitable for ever.

Although we are investigating an alternative, the preferred site for our new school is adjacent to the current school on the Allotment Site which has been generously donated by a local resident and former Governor.

Over the past 18 months, we have been consulting with local residents, staff, parents and school children to come up with plans and drawings which we will need for the government funding application. These can be viewed by appointment at the school if you would like to see them.

After a six month wait, the Government recently announced a £21 billion budget to improve primary and secondary schools across the country. We are hoping to bid for about £5 million to build our school as soon as the detailed funding timetable is sent to us.

An Ecological School

The staff, governors and school children have all helped to shape and design a fantastic new building - a low-impact, sustainable school with the highest possible ecological standards.

The curved building will be set low into the hillside with a living sedum roof to help it blend even more into the surrounding countryside and improve insulation.

We are hoping to heat the school using Ground Source Energy which uses the heat in the ground from under the school to provide all the hot water and heating.

Rain water from the roofs will be collected in huge underground tanks and used to irrigate the school garden and maybe even to flush the toilets like they do at the Eden Project in Cornwall .

The Classrooms will be larger, with natural lighting, ventilation and under-floor heating. Other features will include a dedicated teaching area outside every classroom and a beautiful circular School Hall large enough to accommodate all school children and their parents together - perfect for school concerts and plays!

Together, we are hoping to make an exciting and innovative school environment - a beacon of ecological sustainability for generations to come.
